Same Mistakes by PPOA

It has been brought to our attention, the PPOA President released a statement stating two members are making false allegations against PPOA and the Board of Directors.  He does not mention which of the allegations  are false, we would like to know why he thinks that and is he willing to put it in writing.

Additional question for the membership.  Who will the PPOA Board appoint to Jose Salgado’s vacant seat?.  

Takeppoaback has a prediction of whom that might be.  Former Board Member “Jose Rios” (already twice voted off the PPOA Board by 612 members) or Juan Calderon (previously voted off by 612 members,) time for another “selection” process.

PPOA Board Member resigns after being fed up with the continued mistakes by the PPOA Board.

PPOA’s Failure to Open Contract Negotiations until October /2024.

PPOA President asks for $10,000. to re-new the Contract Cities Association membership fee meanwhile refusing to provide assistance to members for B to V teams honoring fallen peace officers.

PPOA being sued for Race, Gender, Age discrimination and an employee at PPOA in a leadership position is personally named defendant in the suit. The employee is being allowed to continue to work without any inquiry by the PPOA Board. (see LA Superior Court Case document below)

The PPOA BOARD allows problematic insurance agency to continue without correcting the errors of the past.

Will PPOA Members dues be used to pay for unchecked misconduct by an employee leader at the organization?

Is it true LASD is about to enter into a settlement agreement with the Federal Court?   Meanwhile the President of PPOA is married to a Federal Judge?  

LASD employees should never be without a Legal Defense Plan, you can get legal defense coverage if you join LASPA and you will actually save $.  

If you decide to drop PPOA send this email.  NOTE: in order to remain enrolled in a certain county sponsored insurance plan dropping PPOA may result in being unable to continue to be a member of that plan.  Check with Employee Benefits to know which plan is affected.

 I am employed by the County of Los Angeles (“County”) Sheriff’s Department and am a member of PPOA. 

 My name is ______________.

My County employee # is ________.

 Effective immediately, I resign my membership from PPOA.  

 Per the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Janus v. AFSCME, I cannot be required to pay any dues to PPOA or maintain my membership under any conditions, regardless of any prior authorizations.  

 Therefore, you are no longer authorized to enforce any authorization I may have apparently given pursuant to a signed authorization form, or any authorization that the County of Los Angeles has inferred on my behalf, which allows the County to make an automatic payroll deduction for PPOA dues or fees. You are under a legal duty to IMMEDIATELY PROCESS THIS RESIGNATION.  

 Furthermore, the requirement of utilizing a “drop card” instead of this notice is unconstitutional, as this correspondence provides adequate legal notice of my intentions and wishes. If you have any legal authority mandating that a “drop card” must be used to resign my membership, you are directed to immediately inform me in writing of exactly what this legal authority is. If you refuse to accept this correspondence as both an effective resignation and my immediate revocation of the County’s automatic dues or fees deduction, please advise of the exact legal basis of your actions.  

 Any further collection of dues or fees will constitute a violation of my rights under the U.S. Constitution and result in litigation to enforce my rights, including but not limited to an ERISA action for breach of fiduciary duties.
